Ireland is moving forward with a law that will impose restrictions on trade with companies operating in settlements, which has angered Israel and the United States.
Irish lawmakers have taken a significant step towards banning commercial activity in occupied Palestinian territories. The new law aims to prevent Irish companies from investing in or trading with businesses located in territories occupied by Israel.
Israel and the United States have strongly protested against this move. Israeli officials have stated that the law is hostile and a one-sided measure that will harm bilateral relations. The United States has also expressed concern, saying that such a law could undermine peace talks in the region.
"This law violates international law," stated the Israeli Foreign Minister. "We call on Ireland to reconsider this decision so as not to harm our relations."
